Our commitment to recycling

1.1

D&H Innovation is the trading name of D&H General Trading Ltd. We sell electrical and electronic equipment, including projectors, projector screens, UST cabinets, document scanners and related accessories.

1.2

Electrical and electronic products should not be disposed of with general household waste. Many items contain valuable materials that can be reused or recycled, and some may contain substances that can harm the environment if not handled correctly.

1.3

We support responsible recycling and aim to help customers dispose of old electrical and electronic equipment safely when replacing it with a similar new product purchased from us.

Anything with a plug, battery or cable should be reused, repaired or recycled where possible. Please do not place waste electrical or electronic equipment in your normal household bin.

What is WEEE?

WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. It covers unwanted electrical or electronic items, including products powered by a plug, battery, charger or cable.

In the UK, WEEE is regulated by the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013. Retailers and distributors of electrical and electronic equipment have responsibilities to support the collection and recycling of waste electrical items.

  • Projectors and AV equipment.
  • Document scanners and office electronics.
  • Electronic accessories, chargers, cables and power supplies.
  • Products containing batteries or electrical components.
  • Other similar electrical or electronic items.

Like-for-like take-back service

3.1

If you buy a new electrical or electronic product from us, we will provide a way for you to recycle the old like-for-like item you are replacing, free of charge, in accordance with WEEE requirements.

3.2

A like-for-like item means an old item that is of a similar type, size and function to the new product you purchased from D&H Innovation. For example, an old projector may be accepted when you purchase a new projector from us.

3.3

The return or recycling method must be agreed with us in advance. Please do not bring, post or courier old electrical or electronic items to us unless we have confirmed that the item can be accepted and agreed the correct return or recycling method.

3.4

You must provide proof of purchase for the new replacement item bought from D&H Innovation. The old item should normally be made available for take-back within 28 days of purchasing the new replacement item, unless we agree otherwise.

This take-back service is not a general waste disposal service. It applies to like-for-like old electrical or electronic items when you buy a new replacement product from us.

How the take-back method is arranged

4.1

Because we supply different types of products, including large projector screens, cabinets and specialist AV equipment, the correct recycling method may depend on the product type, size, weight, condition and location.

4.2

After you contact us, we will confirm the most suitable route. This may include bringing the item to our address by prior arrangement, sending the item using an agreed method, or using an appropriate local WEEE recycling route.

4.3

If an item is very large, heavy, fragile, unsafe, contaminated or not suitable for normal handling, we may need to agree a special arrangement or direct you to an appropriate local authority or specialist recycling service.

Conditions for accepting old electrical items

For safety and handling reasons, we may only accept items that meet the following conditions:

  • The item must be a like-for-like replacement for a new product purchased from D&H Innovation.
  • The item must be reasonably clean, safe to handle and free from contamination.
  • The item must not contain personal data unless you have securely erased it before handover.
  • Loose batteries, damaged batteries or leaking batteries must be removed where safe and handled separately.
  • The item must not be so heavy, large or unsafe that it cannot be handled by one person without specialist equipment, unless we have agreed special arrangements in advance.
  • We may refuse items that present a health, hygiene, safety, fire, chemical or contamination risk.

Unapproved items may be refused, returned, or disposed of at your cost where permitted by law. Please always contact us first.

Data and personal information on old devices

6.1

You are responsible for removing all personal data from any device before handing it over for recycling. This includes files, photos, passwords, accounts, memory cards, USB drives, SIM cards, saved network details and any other personal information.

6.2

Where possible, you should factory reset the device and remove any storage media before recycling. We are not responsible for personal data left on old electrical or electronic equipment submitted for recycling.

Batteries and fire safety

Batteries, especially lithium-ion batteries, can present a fire risk if damaged, crushed, short-circuited or disposed of incorrectly. Please handle batteries carefully and follow local recycling guidance.

  • Remove loose batteries from products where it is safe to do so.
  • Do not send leaking, swollen, damaged or overheating batteries to us.
  • Do not place batteries in general household waste.
  • Use local battery recycling points or your local authority’s waste guidance for batteries and battery-powered items.

Alternative recycling options

You do not have to use our take-back service. You can also recycle unwanted electrical or electronic equipment through local recycling centres, local authority collection services or other approved recycling points.

Find local recycling points

Use the Recycle Your Electricals locator to find nearby places to recycle, donate or repair unwanted electrical items.

Reuse before recycling

If an item still works, consider reuse, repair, resale or donation before recycling it.

The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol

Many electrical and electronic products are marked with the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. This symbol reminds users that electrical and electronic equipment should be collected separately and should not be thrown away with general household waste.

If you see this symbol on a product, battery, charger or accessory, please recycle it responsibly through an appropriate WEEE, battery or electrical recycling route.

How we handle collected items

10.1

Where we accept an item under our recycling take-back process, it will be handled through an appropriate reuse, recycling, waste management or compliance route.

10.2

Items submitted for recycling will not be returned to you. Please make sure you have removed any personal data, accessories, storage media or items you wish to keep before handing the product over.

Contact us before recycling an item

Please contact us before bringing, posting or couriering any old electrical or electronic item to us. Do not send or bring items to us unless we have confirmed that the item can be accepted and agreed the correct return or recycling method.
