The Vividstorm Phantom A is a recessed in-ceiling, motorised tab-tensioned ALR screen designed specifically for ultra-short-throw projectors installed above the screen. It keeps the cinema screen hidden inside the ceiling when not in use, while the UST ALR surface helps deliver bright, high-contrast images in real rooms.
A concealed screen for premium cinema rooms
The Phantom A is built for customers who want a discreet projection setup without a permanently visible screen case. The screen cassette is recessed into the ceiling, allowing the screen to drop down only when the cinema system is in use.
This makes it a strong choice for new builds, renovations, dedicated cinema rooms and high-end living spaces where a cleaner architectural finish is required.

Designed for a specialist UST ceiling-mounted setup
Phantom A is not a general-purpose drop-down screen. Its optical ALR surface is configured for the light direction of a UST projector mounted above the screen.
Recessed in-ceiling design
The screen housing is designed to be hidden within the ceiling for a cleaner installation finish.
Motorised drop-down action
The screen lowers when needed and retracts back into the cassette when your cinema system is not in use.
Tab-tensioned flatness
Side tensioning helps maintain a flatter viewing surface, which is especially important for UST projection geometry.
UST ALR surface
The black-grid ALR material helps reject ambient light and enhance perceived contrast for UST images.
Please check projector position before ordering
The most important point with Phantom A is projector position. This version is for a UST projector mounted above the screen, not for the usual UST placement below the screen.
Ceiling-mounted UST projector
Use this model when the UST projector will be installed above the screen, with the projector light travelling downward onto the screen surface.
Floor or cabinet-mounted UST projector
For a normal UST projector placed below the screen, choose the standard Vividstorm Phantom UST ALR version instead.
Standard / long-throw projector
This UST ALR material is not designed for standard throw projection. Long-throw projectors require a different screen material.
Better contrast for bright rooms and daytime viewing
The Phantom A uses Vividstorm’s black-grid UST ALR material with an optical sawtooth structure. It is designed to absorb and reject more unwanted ambient light while reflecting the projector image back toward the viewer.
With a 0.6 gain and wide 170° viewing angle, it is suitable for modern UST home cinema installations where customers want a large image without relying on a completely dark room.
